Spiritual attacks can feel overwhelming and debilitating. You may feel weighed down, trapped, hopeless, or even abandoned. But no matter how intense the spiritual warfare, prayer remains one of the most powerful weapons God has given us to fight back. Through prayer, we can call on the name of Jesus and rely on His strength, wisdom and protection.
Recognize the Attack
The first step is to recognize that you are under spiritual assault. The enemy wants you to feel alone and unequipped. But God has promised never to leave or forsake you (Deuteronomy 31:6). Ask Him to help you identify the true source of oppression.
Put on God’s Armor
Ephesians 6 instructs us to put on the full armor of God so that we can stand firm in spiritual battles. Pray through each piece – the belt of truth, breastplate of righteousness, shoes of gospel peace, shield of faith, helmet of salvation, and sword of the Spirit. Ask God to fully cover and protect you.
Plead the Blood of Jesus
The blood of Jesus has divine power to cleanse, heal, deliver, and protect. Plead the blood over yourself, your family, your home, possessions, and more. Satan must surrender when confronted with the holy blood of Christ.
Command the Enemy to Flee
Do not tolerate demonic harassment or oppression. As a child of God filled with the Spirit, you have authority to drive out evil spirits in Jesus’ name. Directly command the enemy to flee, and believe that God will back up your words.
Stand on God’s Word
Counter the lies of the enemy with powerful promises from Scripture. Quote Psalm 91, Isaiah 54:17, James 4:7, and other verses about God’s protection and victory. The word of God acts like a sword to slice through demonic deception.
Offer Up Thanksgiving
Praise and worship powerfully combat spiritual warfare. Thank God that He is sovereign over all powers and principalities. Sing worship songs and hymns as declarations of your faith and reminders of God’s faithfulness.
Ask for Intercession
Don’t try to withstand the battle alone. Ask other believers to stand in agreement with you in prayer. There is multiplied power when two or more gather in Jesus’ name. Surround yourself with prayer support.
Trust God Fully
Ultimately, victory resides in placing your trust completely in the One who already conquered the enemy. Keep your eyes fixed on Jesus. He will lead you triumphantly through the storm. God promises to be with you and strengthen you. Believe it and stand firm.
Conclusion
Spiritual attacks can be unnerving. But through prayer, praise and relying fully on God’s power, you can overcome. Put on His armor, plead the blood of Jesus, speak Scripture, worship in faith, and believe that God will bring you through victoriously. With God on your side, no weapon formed against you can prosper. Stand strong in Jesus’ mighty name.
